Step Up to Serve|
As a mutual organisation, our people are at the centre of everything we do. As part of the local community, we are also very aware of the impact we have on the environment around us and strive to enhance opportunities for the wider community.
As part of our commitment to supporting young people, we offer opportunities via the National Apprenticeship Service, for 16 to 24 year olds. We develop the learning and skills to help them become valuable employees of the future. The year-long placement provides them with support and leadership to enable them to undertake their NVQ or Diploma in Business and Administration. Where possible, upon the completion of their qualification, we aim to offer a permanent role with 3BM.
We have the following vacancies available:
IT in Technical Support
As part of our commitment to young people, we aim to offer part time placements to enable valuable work experience to be gained and knowledge provided, for those undertaking qualifications in Business and Administration, Building Surveying and Information Technology.
We are developing a pilot scheme of work placements with a local enterprise school, The Fulham Enterprise Studio. Further information on the school can be found here
We are also developing a graduate trainee experience programme in our Buildings team for those undertaking professional qualifications. Through an arrangement with London universities we want to offer students in their final or gap year a full or part time placement.
Charity is very important to 3BM and as such, since our creation we have taken part in various fundraising activities, events and sponsorship.
Moving forward, as children and young people are at the heart of what we do, we are going to have a dedicated Children / Young person’s charity that we support. We will work with the charity by offering strategic advice and support, in addition to raising funds on their behalf or making donations. To supplement this, every year we will nominate a local, national or international charity to support.
Events we have taken part in so far include:
Macmillan Coffee Morning
3BM take part in the annual Coffee Morning events that take place in September. We hold bake offs, raffles, sweepstakes and run a tuck shop up to and after the events. A fun morning is always had by all and we raise vital funds for such a worthwhile cause. Please see our photos from our Macmillan Coffee morning 2014 (link). Also, take a look at our Macmillan Coffee morning 2015 (link).
Motor Neurone Disease Association
3BM’s nominated charity for 2014 was the Motor Neurone Disease Association. This is a cause very close to our hearts, as a former colleague has been diagnosed with the disease.
3BM made a £1,500 donation to the 2014 MND Challenge, where 22 people took on the challenge and swam across the Solent, swimmers and kayakers wore wristbands to honour those that have passed (Angels) and those that are fighting Motor Neurone Disease (Warriors). Find out more
3BM has supported the Dr Barnados charity, by providing sponsorship to enable 12 young children to attend a circus event.
Crisis Mile Run
3BM provided sponsorship for a 3BM partner who took part in the run to raise vital funds for the homeless.
In line with our environmental policy, 3BM is committed to sustainable waste management through reducing our use of materials, promoting recycling and the use of recycled materials.
Our offices are located within the London Borough of Hammersmith and as such all general waste is disposed of via The Western Riverside Waste Authority (WRWA), who transport all waste on barges to the new Energy from Waste Plant in Belvedere, Kent (further reducing the carbon foot print). At the plant, all the waste is burnt and 98 % is recycled and the 2 % residue is used in construction industries. All the energy which is produced is transformed back to London. Further information on the Plant can be found at Here
We operate under a comingle service for recycling where you can mix; Paper, Plastic, Cardboard, Glass and Cans, all in one without the need to separate, as this is undertaken by the Local Authority away from our site.
Toner Cartridges and Mobile Telephone Recycling
We recycle our old toner cartridges and mobile telephones via Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity. Rainbow Trust utilises this recycling facility to raise valuable funds for their worthwhile cause. Further information on the Rainbow Trust Recycling programme can be found Here
Registered Charity No. 1070532.
Advice to Schools
We advise schools on the disposal of IT equipment using accredited disposal companies to carry out safe, data destruction, and where possible, refurbish and recycle equipment to serve an educational purpose elsewhere.
Announced by HRH The Prince of Wales, the Step Up To Serve campaign aims to increase the quality, quantity and frequency of youth social action for young people aged 10-20.
In support, 3BM has pledged, “Each year to use our influence and goodwill, as a spin out mutual, to help 40 young people benefit from the Prince’s youth agenda.”
We deliver this pledge, through our apprenticeships, work placements, sponsorship and charitable work.
Supporting youth football
Kinetic Coaching is a charity in London focused on “…helping young people through providing support and activities that develop their skills, capacity and capabilities to enable them to participate in, and integrate into society as independent, mature and responsible individuals.”
We fully support and encourage the physical development of young people, to enable them to have full and active lives. As such we work with the Kinetic Foundation, to provide support and advice to further develop this Foundation who have a much broader reach and direct contact with young people and are developing them as team players, coaches and also provide greater community outreach.
To further our support, since our creation, 3BM has sponsored one of their football teams, providing valuable funding to the Foundation.

“The help that Kinetic is able to give young people in terms of positive pathways through sport relies not just on the valued support from our partners like 3BM, but in their case it is immeasurably improved by the time and expertise they bring to the charitable venture too. We feel very fortunate to have them as part of the Kinetic movement.”
Rick de Blaby, Chairman of The Kinetic Foundation
“The support from 3BM has allowed us to grow the pathways and opportunities we can offer our young people. Their support has been invaluable for us funding accredited courses, such as the level one football coaching badge, which allows our young people the potential to go directly into employment and combat youth unemployment.”
